A look back at the ECCM21 conference in Nantes

4 juillet 2024

On July 2, we had the honor of seeing our PhD engineer, Quentin Drouhet, represent CANOE at the European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM21). This conference was an opportunity to share the advances of his research with the scientific community.

Quentin presented his work on « The yarn/matrix interface in composite materials – Fragmentation tests and microCT based Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) ».

This study focuses on the yarn/matrix interface in composite materials, with particular emphasis on natural hemp-reinforced composites. The processing and analysis of volume images from microtomographic scans (microCT) and the calculation of volume deformation fields by 3D digital image correlation (DVC) have enabled a better understanding of fragmentation mechanisms and interactions between reinforcing fibers and matrix.

This research is part of Quentin’s thesis, entitled « Étude multi-échelle des effets de la fatigue hydrique sur le comportement mécanique et les mécanismes d’endommagement de composites à renfort de chanvre », carried out at the Institut Pprime in Poitiers.

👏We are extremely proud of his significant contributions to the advancement of sustainable and innovative composite materials.

Thanks to all ECCM21 participants and organizers for this unique opportunity to exchange ideas and discover the latest advances in the field of composite materials.
