For several months now, CANOE and the AUTHENTIC MATERIAL company, located in Toulouse, have been collaborating to develop new bio-based composites materials. These materials are composed of natural resources which are rarely used in industrial applications such as bovid horns (bull, buffalo or zebu). They have been developed in collaboration with AUTHENTIC MATERIALS that commercializes these natural products in different forms for tableware, eyewear or packaging applications. The developed bio-based composite materials exhibit several important benefits as compared to the use of neat horn, such as improved mechanical properties or increased humidity resistance. CANOE and AUTHENTIC MATERIAL are still collaborating to develop innovative formulations based on other natural resources such as mother-of-pearl or leather.
